Robotic additive manufacturing typically requires heavy off-line programming and/or simulation and non-familiar programming languages, with real-time motion control typically limited with robotic motion solutions. This presentation will provide an overview of how robotic systems for metal additive manufacturing can be implemented and programmed using conventional slicers and run like CNC-type machines to enable ease of use and minimize training. DEDSmart® Controlled robotic systems allow joint level control combined with real-time motion+I/O control that provide kinematic path planning to enable efficient robotic use. This robotics solution enables large format 3D printing at minimal cost and maximum flexibility. In addition to printing, parts can be repaired, enhanced or joined with the same DEDSmart® Robotic technology.
