In the metal processing world, patent issues often arise for innovative businesses, and can be time sensitive. You can benefit by establishing internal practices which help you identify patentable systems and processes, as well as avoiding infringing other people's patents. This highly interactive course will show how to handle patent issues using industry hypotheticals as teaching points. You will also learn how to establish clear ownership over your inventions and other intellectual property.

Marshall Honeyman is a Partner in Avek IP, a patent firm in Overland Park, Kansas. He represents numerous manufacturing clients, mostly in the aircraft and automotive fields. He’s been regular speaker for FABTECH, and a contributor for The Fabricator magazine. He focuses on advising clients in the area of patent prosecution.

Justin Poplin is a registered patent attorney and a member of Avek IP, LLC. He served as Chair of the Intellectual Property Prosecution & Transactions department in a national law firm from 2013 to 2016, and he is a founding member of his current firm.
