Press Brakes for Engineers

Intermediate 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Designing sheet metal parts for press brake forming. Solve forming issues before they reach the press brake by understanding the mechanics of forming. This is an educational presentation only, not a sales pitch.

How selecting press brake tooling can effect your part quailty.

Intermediate 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Over the years I have found some of the same mistakes being made when selecting tooling.
  • Vee openings not matching the desired inside bend radius.
  • Tooling angle too shallow for the bend and the customer is no longer air bending in an air bend application
What happens when you select the wrong vee opening and your inside bend radius is off? your flat blank is wrong which impacts flange and feature dimensioning. I would like to talk about what to do if you dont want to purchase new tooling and adjust your flat blanks. How to determin which vee opening you will need. Also talk about part design and how to know if your company is designing a manufacturable sheet metal part.

when air bending with too shallow of a die angle. you see inconsistant angles from your parts. Air bending is also refered to as three point bending.
